Kovacs and Eriksen dissolved their partnership in 1964 with Ericksen becoming the sole owner of Mar Vista. Following his death in 1966, the property was operated by a series of four different owners until Tom and Renata purchased Mar Vista in 2000. They emphasized the original charm and simplicity of the cottages at the same time that they installed twenty-first century infrastructure. With Tom and Renata, chickens returned to Mar Vista, along with some other farm animals and a veggie garden. Yet with all of these changes the Mar Vista Cottages still feature the same gorgeous view down the Mendocino Coast.
